Lead Development Engineer/Architect

  • Act as a beacon for the team through technical management and monitoring the development deliveries, and providing solutions that are simple to run and develop;
  • Interest in both front-end and back-end; we use Backbone.js and jQuery on the front-end and a Microsoft platform on the back-end;
  • Focus on assessing and figuring out the right choices through a given piece of development; you will have a strong impact on the technical solution architecture; and
  • Through technical overview and application of best practices ensure high quality within a budget.


  • Relevant education within the field of computer science (probably) – however, your experience and proven skills with sites with very high volume, availability and performance are more important;
  • Natural feel for math and models;
  • Ownership of project or team and skilled at hard to grasp systems and contexts; a natural ability to see the best choice when codes and systems need to be organised;
  • Technically and methodologically broad-based; you consider front end to be as important as the back end;
  • ASP.NET and C#;
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Sql server;
  • Nunit;
  • Amazon Web Services S3, EC2, CloudFront and more
  • API development for backbone and jQuery SPA clients;
  • Mecached and NoSQL; and
  • Database sharing and scaling.

  • Good at communicating at all levels and with everyone, and you are both flexible and forthcoming;
  • Responsive to input from others, and you have the will and the clout to effect the right common path;
  • Academically ambitious and able to prioritize and separate the important from the unimportant;
  • Conscientious and quality conscious, and you relate well to evaluations regarding what you have done;
  • A team player and self-priming; and
  • Great skills in focusing on alternative solutions and options that give the customer a great experience; understanding of business perspectives: that development must provide the customer with added value.
